Participate in the Global Voices Summit 2012

The Melton Foundation is currently working towards a potential partnership with Global Voices, a community of bloggers and translators around the world who work together to bring reports from blogs and citizen media everywhere, with emphasis on voices that are not ordinarily heard in international mainstream media.

As part of the process of mutual acquaintance, a delegation of the Melton Foundation is invited to PARTICIPATE IN THE GLOBAL VOICES SUMMIT IN KENYA (NAIROBI) ON 2-3 JULY 2012. For more information on the summit, please see the homepage of the Global Voices Summit 2012.

We are highly excited about this opportunity and hope to involve our Fellows as much as possible. Therefore, the MF Executive Office offers one full grant to support a Fellow – Senior and Junior – with experience in journalism, blogging, or other social media communication on social or political issues, as well as demonstrable interest in citizen journalism to represent the Melton Foundation at the Global Voices Biennial Summit.

To apply, please send a letter of motivation to Winthrop Carty, covering the following aspects and questions:

  • Your background on social media communication and your interest in citizen journalism
  • Your track record of follow through in the MF
  • How do you intend to bring further the strategic collaboration between the Melton Foundation and Global Voices in a sustainable way?
  • In which way would you support the development of the contribution of Global Voices at the upcoming Global Event of the Melton Foundation?
  • Your interest and motivation to participate in the Summit
  • Research on logistics: visa requirements and estimated total travel cost (source of information should be indicated)

Applications sent later than 10 June 2012 cannot be accepted any more.

We encourage all Fellows in this particular field to consider their application. This is a great opportunity for you personally and for the Melton Foundation and it’s efforts to foster and further our mission.

For further details or concerns, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Winthrop or Markus directly.

We look forward to your applications and to being represented at the Global Voices Summit in Nairobi!
