5 Key Questions for a Featured Fellow: Parithosh Jayanthi

We're introducing a new way to feature our fellows each month, with five key questions each month. This month, we talked to Melton Fellow Parithosh Jayanthi, and hear more about his interests, inspiration and ideas for our future as Global Citizens.

Can you give us 3 key statements about your life in 3 sentences?

I am an avid photographer and startup enthusiast. I am studying telecommunications engineering at BMSCE right now, but have a deep interest in agriculture. One day I hope to bridge my interest and education.

How do you think about Global Citizenship in your daily life?

Global citizenship comes to mind in almost everything. Whether I use too much water, or I see people from different places, a small spark connects it to global citizenship.

What drives you to act as a global citizen?

The urge to help make the world a better place often leads me to be a global citizen. Only when we think globally and act locally can we make the world a better place.

Who or what inspires you?

My dad is a constant source of inspiration. At the age of 50, he quit his job to follow his dreams, which is a testament to the fact that it is never too late. He has always encouraged me to be more conscious of my surroundings, which is something that has helped me on my journey as a global citizen.

How do you think we can drive the course of global citizenship in the future, in every citizen?

The way to drive the idea of global citizenship is through kids. If we can reach them at a younger age, when their opinions are still being molded I think we can create an amazingly powerful impact and empower an entire generation of change makers. This is why I love the concept of teaching global citizenship in schools, something the BMS campus is trying to do now.
