Call for godparents 2018
Goodfellas and Godparents - follow this calling!
It’s time again for launch the MF community classic: the godparents program! We are calling for Senior Fellows who want to connect with our New Fellows 2018 as a godparent.
Being a godparent is simple, fun, and an enriching experience. It’s an opportunity to build friendships across generations and to up your knowledge about what New Fellows are working on today. Tell your stories of when you first joined the Foundation and the many things that have happened ever since, share some of your professional experience, and help challenge bright young minds to go beyond their limits and become the change they want to see in this world.
CLICK HERE and sign up to be a godparent by 19 August 2018.
Over the years, more than 100 Senior Fellows have guided New Fellows as they explored the possibilities the Melton Foundation and our community offers. As godparents, they have helped unfold potential and support the development of young global citizens in their personal and professional journey.
You can be one of them: sign up and start the conversation with your godchild this September!
Welcomed into the Fellowship in early June, the New Fellows 2018 started their online-training in July 2018. Over the course of eight months, they will learn about the key building blocks that Global Citizenship is made of: from intercultural competence to social Innovation, from communication to project planning, from global awareness to storytelling.
Each month, they are introduced to a new area which is usually introduces by a subject matter expert from our Senior Fellow network. The online impulse session is followed by a practical experience, where New Fellows work on individual or group assignments to deepen their understanding hands on. Last but not least, we conclude the month with a reflection discussion to unpack the experience and harvest important take-aways. The monthly modules are interconnected so that New Fellows can grow their capacity gradually. Through the online training program, they become more aware about realities that used to be beyond their reach, learn to take responsibility and turn their passion and competency into meaningful actions locally with the bigger, global picture in mind.
The New Fellows Training culminates with the NFO in early 2019, where they continue to build community, share achievements, and design their first project teams together.
To make the initial contact a piece of cake, we have put together some suggestions and good practices:
- Connect via email, whatsapp or social media - the personal touch can make all the difference.
- Share the experiences you’ve had with the Melton Foundation - happiness is often just an email or a Skype-call away.
- Ask your godchild to tell you about her/his experience in the New Fellow Training, studies, or current projects and expect to hear some amazing stories!
- Challenge her/him, e.g. by asking tough questions - it’s this exercise that helps us rethink and improve ourselves.
- Give feedback and share your opinion - your insights can make all the difference
