Melton Fellows
The primary audience at our Global Citizenship Conference (GCC) is Melton Fellows – young people (age 20 – 45) who are students or alumni from our partner universities in Chile, China, Germany, India and the United States.
Our Fellows are diverse in socio-economic background, race, ethnicity, religion, and political viewpoint. Some are in college while others are far along in their careers. But they all share a common grounding in what it means to be a global citizen – to be aware of global issues and their local implications (and vice versa); to take responsibility for these issues; and to act in ways that reflect this responsibility and awareness. Plus, our Fellows are curious and critical thinkers, interested in learning and… fun to be with!
For Junior Fellows, the GCC together with the homestay is a key component of the Global Citizenship Development Program. The participation in the conference is integral part of the Junior Fellowship not only because the GCC gives impulses and challenges their worldview; our conference is also a space to empower them as they take the next steps on their path towards becoming active global citizens.
Senior Fellows participate in the conference with a two-fold mission: to inspire and to be inspired. The GCC offers them a platform to share their expertise, add their unique perspective, or showcase inspiring work they are doing. At the same time, it’s an excellent opportunity to connect with like-minded people and re-charge their global citizenship battery for the year to come.
Visiting Senior Fellows
The GCC is a must for every global citizen and global-citizen-to-be! So, if you are in Hangzhou or plan to travel to the region, make sure to stop by at the GCC. We will charge a small catering fee of 15 USD per day to make sure your stomach is just as well attended to as your heart and mind.
Special for busy people: If you can join us for only a little, we recommend to schedule your participation around the 100 Acts Program from 18-20 Sep, 2015. This compact 3-day program offers more than tangible incentives to act as global citizens - it provides you with a framework to design and do small, achievable and tangible Acts of Global Citizenship on an issue of your interest.
