About the GCC

Welcome to the 2014 Global Citizenship Conference in New Orleans!

Our annual conference brings together about 100 participants – Melton Fellows, staff from partner universities, delegates from for-profit and non-profit organizations, and leading Global Citizenship advocates, practitioners, and experts for three primary purposes:

  • To build a global community around Global Citizenship in order to promote the concept and its practices;
  • To further the learning and leadership development of participants as global citizens and advocates of global citizenship; and
  • To bring global citizenship to the “grassroots” level, by working on local aspects of global issues at Dillard University and surrounding local communities.

This year, participants come together for “100 Acts of Global Citizenship” - a bold new program to generate everyday, achievable and tangible acts of Global Citizenship.

At the GCC, you will:

  • be inspired, challenged, maybe even blown away by talks in our Springboard Sessions
  • gain new knowledge on global issues and skill to address them in the Workshop Tracks
  • Experience life in New Orleans through a choice of Field Trips and if you are a Junior Fellow of the Melton Foundation, through our Homestay program
  • Meet people from around the world and expand your network of those interested in tackling global challenges.

The sum goal of all these experiences? To help you design your Act of Global Citizenship. It may be a small Act, that may only take an hour or two. But when we combine all our efforts and Acts we can create Infinite Possibilities.
